Lactose Intolerance and Dairy Intolerance-Related Conditions

dairy free

Most of us begin our dairy-free lives without having a say about when we have to clean up our act and cut out dairy. Perhaps you slowly developed symptoms like stomach pain, bloating, flatulence, and worse slowly. For some of you out there, one binge pushed you over the edge, into the agony of intolerance. My first recommendation for you is to visit your health care professional if you are experiencing any sort of symptoms that you feel are not normal or healthy. They make me say that. You may want to start with a basic exclusion diet where you cut out anything that could cause you negative symptoms. First of all, this takes both care and discipline. You can’t go halfway for even 80% or else the information you gain will be worthless. Some of you will be able to tolerate some about of dairy products, particularly if you supplement an over-the-counter lactase enzyme pill before eating anything containing dairy. That being said, you will likely still be better off ending your ice cream and milk binge sessions. As I was saying, you should go all the way with the exclusion diet and cut out everything that could hurt you and not cheat at all. When I did my first exclusion diet, I stuck to home-cooked brown rice with steamed mixed veggies and lean pure poultry (nothing with additives or fillers that could contain dairy). Also be careful that any condiments, spices, and dishes you use are not cross-contaminated with any dairy. I did this diet for two weeks, mixing in different veggies, meats, and snacking on fruit. I added stir fry and rice noodle pasta (no cheese) to the menu for a couple of additional recipes so that my taste buds didn’t off themselves from boredom. That is the essential foundation of what you need to know about exclusion diets, although I could add ten more pages of good advice, like calcium supplements, and hydrogen breath tests you can get for a lactose intolerance diagnosis. Ultimately, I revert to my initial advice, visit your health care professional first.
